1、 Definition and Structure


Hybrid Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors are a new type of capacitor that combines solid conductive polymers 

with liquid electrolytes. The electrolyte used is a composite system of conductive polymers and electrolytes. 

Its core structure includes:


Anodic aluminum foil: a high surface area oxide layer is formed on the surface by etching, used for storing 

charges;


Mixed electrolyte: composed of conductive polymer materials and liquid electrolyte, it combines the low 

ESR (equivalent series resistance) characteristics of solid capacitors with the self-healing ability of the oxide 

film of liquid capacitors;


Packaging form: divided into Surface Mount (SMD) and Plug in Package (DIP), suitable for high-density

 integration scenarios and high voltage and large capacity requirements, respectively.


2、 Performance advantages


The low ESR and high ripple current tolerance ESR values are significantly lower than traditional liquid 

electrolytic capacitors, with lower energy loss in high-frequency scenarios and support for larger ripple

 currents (such as the ESR of a 47 μ F solid-liquid hybrid capacitor being lower than that of a 330 μ F

 liquid capacitor);


High temperature resistance and wide temperature range stability. The working temperature range can

 reach -55~125 ℃, and the electrolyte stability at high temperatures is better than that of liquid capacitors 

(traditional liquid capacitors are prone to volatilization and failure at high temperatures);


Long life and high reliability life generally reach over 5000 hours (105 ℃ working condition), and the failure 

mode is mainly "open circuit", avoiding the risk of short circuit and improving system safety;


Self repairing ability: The liquid electrolyte component can repair oxide film defects and improve voltage 

stability (such as withstand surge voltage up to 1.5 times the rated voltage);


The miniaturization design reduces the volume ratio of liquid capacitors by more than 30% under the same 

capacity (for example, the diameter of 220 μ F/35V plug-in capacitors can be controlled within Φ 8mm).


3、 Typical application scenarios


Automotive electronics are used for car chargers, LED drivers, HUD head up displays, etc., and comply 

with AEC-Q200 automotive certification. They can withstand harsh environments such as vibration and 

high and low temperature impacts;


Enterprise level storage and servers serve as SSD power filtering components, ensuring voltage stability

 during high-speed data access and supporting high-performance scenarios such as cloud computing

 and AI;


High end charging equipment and communication base stations replace traditional liquid capacitors in

 gallium nitride fast charging and 5G base station power supply, achieving a compact design with high 

efficiency and low heat generation.


Selection precautions


Voltage resistance and capacity matching: 1.2-1.5 times the voltage margin should be reserved to cope

 with surge impact;


Temperature and lifespan requirements: For high-temperature scenarios (such as engine compartments), 

priority should be given to products with a temperature rating of 125 ℃;


Installation method: For high-density PCB design, surface mount type is preferred, and plug-in type is 

suitable for high-power scenarios.
