Yageo Increases Prices of Certain Resistors by 20%, Effective February 1st

January 16, 2026 - According to Taiwan's Commercial Times, passive component giant Yageo has recently issued a price adjustment notice to its customers, announcing an increase of approximately 15% to 20% on certain resistor products, effective February 1st this year .

Yageo explained that this price hike is primarily due to a significant rise in the cost of its chip product lines, driven notably by the soaring prices of precious metals such as silver, ruthenium, and palladium, which have substantially increased production costs . The affected products include mainstream resistor models like RC0402, RC0603, RC0805, and RC1206 . The new prices will officially take effect on February 1st; however, existing contracts will continue to be honored at their originally agreed-upon prices .

Yageo emphasized its high value on long-term cooperative relationships with customers and reiterated its commitment to providing stable and reliable supply, excellent product quality, and competitive comprehensive solutions .

The report also mentioned that Yageo had previously adjusted prices for specific tantalum capacitors and magnetic bead products . Furthermore, passive component distributors have already received price increase notices from Kaimei, a subsidiary of Yageo, indicating a 15% price rise for 0402 to 1206 thick film resistor shipments starting January 26th .
