Recently, the Information Center of the China Electronic Components Association released the "2025 Edition of China Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor Market Competition Research Report." Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are common electronic components widely used in energy-saving lighting, power supplies, computers, consumer electronics, industrial control, communication, and new energy fields. An aluminum electrolytic capacitor uses an oxide film formed on the surface of a high-purity aluminum foil anode as the dielectric, combined with a cathode aluminum foil, electrolyte, and capacitor paper (electrolytic paper). This oxide film is formed through anodic oxidation (formation), is very thin, and possesses rectifying characteristics. Furthermore, the effective surface area is expanded by etching the high-purity aluminum foil, enabling compact, large-capacitance capacitors. Compared to other capacitors, they offer advantages such as high capacitance per volume, high withstand voltage, a "self-healing" property, and cost-effectiveness, leading to their widespread use in various electronic products. Based on the dielectric material, aluminum electrolytic capacitors are classified into liquid-type, solid-type, and solid-liquid hybrid polymer aluminum electrolytic capacitors.

In 2024, as the global economy slowly recovered, demand for major household appliances like TVs, refrigerators, air conditioners, and washing machines, as well as mobile intelligent terminals and computer equipment, rebounded compared to the previous year, consequently increasing the demand for aluminum electrolylytic capacitors. Simultaneously, the continued growth in wind power, photovoltaics, and other renewable energy sectors, coupled with the rapid development of the new energy vehicle industry, continued to drive demand for these capacitors. Due to intensified industry competition, the average price of aluminum electrolytic capacitors continued to decline. According to data from the Information Center of the China Electronic Components Association, the global market size for aluminum electrolytic capacitors was approximately 61.42 billion RMB in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 0.1%. It is projected that the global market size will reach about 64.55 billion RMB in 2025, a growth of 5.1% year-on-year, and is expected to grow to 77.34 billion RMB by 2029, with a five-year average annual growth rate of about 4.7% from 2024 to 2029.

Global manufacturers of aluminum electrolytic capacitors are primarily concentrated in China, Japan, and Taiwan, China. Key enterprises include Chemi-con, Jianghai Capacitor, Aihua Group, Nichicon, Panasonic, Rubycon, etc. Among them, Japanese manufacturers hold about 38% of the global market share, while local Chinese enterprises account for approximately 42% of the global market share. In terms of application fields, power and energy represent one of the largest application markets for aluminum electrolytic capacitors, accounting for about 30% of the total global market value. Automotive electronics is another major application area, constituting approximately 21% of the total global market value. Aluminum electrolytic capacitors applied in household appliances account for about 19% of the total market value. Additionally, computers, communication equipment, industrial, and medical equipment are all major application markets for these capacitors.
In the coming years, driven by growing demands for energy conservation and environmental protection, 5G construction, and the advancement of the "Belt and Road" initiative, sectors such as frequency conversion, the new energy vehicle market, the communication equipment market, and the renewable energy field are expected to be the primary forces fueling the growth of the aluminum electrolytic capacitor market
