Production process of electrolytic capacitors

Date:2024-11-04 | Popular:9

Main raw materials for aluminum electrolytic capacitors: anode foil, cathode foil, electrolytic paper, electrolyte, conductive foil, tape, cover plate, aluminum shell, Huasi, sleeve, gasket, etc

Production processes: cutting, winding, immersion, assembly, aging, sealing, printing, casing, measurement, packaging, inspection, etc

Manufacturing process of aluminum electrolytic capacitors:

Step 1: Corrosion of aluminum foil.

If you open the casing of an aluminum electrolyte capacitor, you will see how many layers of aluminum foil and electrolytic paper are inside. The aluminum foil and electrolytic paper are attached together and wound into a cylindrical mechanism, so that there is a layer of electrolytic paper that absorbs the electrolyte between every two layers of aluminum foil.

The manufacturing essentials of aluminum foil. In order to increase the battle area between aluminum foil and electrolyte, the appearance of aluminum foil in capacitors is not smooth, but is formed into a rugged and unyielding shape through electrochemical corrosion, which can increase the appearance area by 7-8 times. The process of electrochemical corrosion is a complex competition, involving the type and concentration of the corrosion solution, the appearance of the aluminum foil, the rate of corrosion, the dynamic balance of voltage, and so on.

Step 2: Formation process of oxide film.

After electrochemical corrosion, aluminum foil needs to be chemically oxidized to form aluminum trioxide, which is the dielectric of aluminum electrolytic capacitors. After oxidation, carefully review the appearance of aluminum oxide to see if there are freckles or cracks, and remove any that are not qualified.

Step 3: Cutting of aluminum foil.

This measure is simple and clear. It is necessary to cut a whole piece of aluminum foil into several small pieces to make it suitable for capacitor manufacturing.

Step 4: Riveting of leads.

The pins outside the capacitor are not directly connected to the inside of the capacitor, but are connected to the inside of the capacitor through internal leads. Therefore, in this step, it is necessary to connect the inner leads of the anode and cathode with the outer leads of the capacitor through ultrasonic bonding. The outer lead is usually made of copper plated iron wire or oxidized copper wire to reduce resistance, while the inner lead is directly connected to aluminum foil using aluminum wire. The public pays attention to these small measures, which require high precision processing.

Step 5: Winding of electrolytic paper.

The electrolyte in the capacitor is not directly poured into the capacitor, soaking the aluminum foil in a liquid state, but is adhered layer by layer to the electrolytic paper that has adsorbed the electrolyte. Among them, there is a slight difference in the formula between the electrolytic paper used and the ordinary paper, which has a microporous shape. The appearance of the paper is not as good as impurities, otherwise it will affect the identity and performance of the electrolyte. And this step is to stick the electrolytic paper without adsorbed electrolyte with aluminum foil, and then roll it into the capacitor shell, so that the aluminum foil and electrolytic paper form a partition state of approximately "101010".

Step 6: Immersion of electrolyte.

After the electrolytic paper is wound, the electrolyte is poured in to immerse the electrolyte onto the electrolytic paper. With the innovation of electrolyte formulas and the advancement of electrolytic paper manufacturing skills, the ESR value of aluminum electrolyte capacitors has gradually been improved, reaching a fraction of what it used to be.

Step 7: Assembly.

This step is to assemble the aluminum shell on the surface of the capacitor and connect the external leads. By this point, the capacitor has been fundamentally formed.

Step 8: Curl the edges.

If it is a "foreskin" capacitor, it is necessary to cover the surface of the capacitor with PVC film on the aluminum shell through this step. However, the use of PVC film in capacitors is becoming increasingly rare, mainly because this material is not suitable for environmental protection and has little to do with performance display.

Step 9: Assembly and combination.

Step 10: Charging and aging test.

Step 11: Parameter Review.

Leakage current up (LC) is the measurement of the direct current voltage applied to a capacitor. This voltage is marked on the rubber tube of the capacitor and is also known as the work voltage. The smaller the value of the direct current it passes through, the better. Capacity review: Capacity (CAP), the goal of which is to test whether its value is within the allowable deviation range. Exceeding or falling below is considered insufficient.

3DF Review: Temperature 25 ℃, frequency 120HZ, non-polar, usually 1KHZ (test conditions). Brief note: Capacitors naturally experience a loss factor in electronic circuits, and both loss and dissipation have poor meanings in Chinese. They use the opposite sides of trigonometric functions to calculate the value. DF is a commonly used term in the western region of Thailand, and edges are expressed as percentages. tan δ is a commonly used term in the local region, and it is expressed as a small number of points. Both have the same meaning, and the smaller the value, the better. The capacitor should be discharged before testing the capacity DF to avoid damaging the instrument due to the voltage carried by the capacitor flowing into it.

External review: that is, the aesthetic of the appearance of capacitors (beauty pageant), it must rely on our vision to judge whether it is good or not. Originally, in every process we go through, we know what is good or bad, and when it should be removed. However, in order to prevent "losing dogs" (some bad products are not detected), some still need to review the outside, just in case.
